The PatchMeister Demo © 1992 The Blue Ribbon SoundWorks, Ltd.
---------------------
Welcome to "The PatchMeister", the latest addition to The Blue Ribbon
SoundWork's product line!
"The PatchMeister" is a full-featured Universal Librarian designed to
simplify the process of retrieving, transmitting and managing SysEx
files from your MIDI instruments. You will be able to rearrange banks
and recreate large MIDI setups easily. And if "The PatchMeister" doesn't
automatically come with a driver for your MIDI instrument, you can
create one!
In addition to being a stand-alone program, "The PatchMeister" can be
fully integrated into "Bars&Pipes Professional" so that both "Bars&Pipes
Professional" and "PatchMeister" windows can be viewed on one integrated
screen.

This will change the current directory to your backup disk.
4. From the CLI, type --> delete "PM_Acc_Demo:The PatchMeister"
This will delete the stand-alone version of The PatchMeister
from the PM_Acc_Demo disk.
5. From the CLI, type --> lharc e accessory/accessory
This will decompress the PatchMeister Accessory into the root
directory of the PM_Acc_Demo disk.
6. Start Bars&Pipes Professional and open the Accessory window.
7. Use the Accessory window's Load menu item to load the PatchMeister
accessory from the PM_Acc_Demo disk.
Getting Started
---------------
Here are a few tips to get you started...
. Use the Help system! To get help, press the <HELP> key. The cursor
will turn into a question mark. Now do the action that you want to
get help about; i.e. Click on a gadget, select a menu item, type a
letter on the Amiga keyboard. A window containing the requested help
text will be opened.
. Drivers are installed by using the pencil gadget located in The
PatchMeister window. Click on the pencil, and then click anywhere
inside the list box in The PatchMeister window. A file requester
will open so that you can select the Driver that you want to install.
. If you are able to try out the program with a MIDI instrument, make
sure that the MIDI route information being displayed in The PatchMeister
window has been set up correctly.
S-Ch ==> Sysex Communications Channel. Make sure this channel matches
the channel of the instrument you want to communicate with.
Ch ==> Audition Channel. This channel is used for the "Note On"
commands generated by "The PatchMeister". This channel will
more than likely be the same as the `S-Ch' channel. However,
some synths (i.e. Roland MT-32) use one channel for Sysex
Communications, and a different set of channels for "Note On"
commands. Make sure this channel is set to match the channel
on which your synth will respond to "Note On" commands.
In ==> MIDI In. Bars&Pipes Pro users may select a MIDI In port.
Out ==> MIDI Out. Bars&Pipes Pro users may select a MIDI Out port.
P-Bay ==> Patch Bay MIDI Channel and Patch Bay Program Number. If you
are using a patch bay, make sure the MIDI channel matches the
channel that your patch bay is listening to, and that the
program number is the program (patch) that will establish the
proper MIDI route to this synth.
To change one of these values, hold down the left mouse button while
pointing to the number you want to change and move the mouse up to
increment and down to decrement. Release the mouse button when the
correct value is displaying.
. This demo comes with the Proteus XR and MT-32 drivers installed. Of
course you can install any drivers you like, but since the Demo will
prevent you from saving files, you will not be able to create any
Libraries. Therefore, double-click on the Proteus XR and/or MT-32
synth names in The PatchMeister window to open the sample libraries
included with this demo. Double-click on a filename in a Library
window to open that file.
NOTE: If you are running the Accessory version you will have to install
the MT-32 and Proteus XR Drivers yourself.
. Sounds are auditioned by typing letters on your Amiga keyboard. Read
help for the letter `Q' and any of the numbers in the numeric keypad
located on the right-hand side of your Amiga keyboard. (Press the
<HELP> key, type the letter `Q').
Have fun!
